Slept Like a Baby

Look how peaceful my grandson is while he sleeps. He has no worries, no fears...He simply rests knowing he is cared for and loved.

The Lord has been bringing to mind the story of Jesus sleeping in the stern of the boat. Why was Jesus able to sleep while His disciples panicked? I mean, the waves were crashing in and filling the boat with water and yet He slept.

“A fierce windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. But He was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke Him up and said to Him, “Teacher! Don’t You care that we’re going to die? ” He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence! Be still! ” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Then He said to them, “Why are you fearful? Do you still have no faith? ””

Do you lie awake at night wrestling with thoughts of worry and fear? Wondering “what if”? The root of your unrest is fear. Fear is the enemy of rest. Fear robs us of real rest. Fear is also the opposite of faith and the two cannot abide in the same mind. I believe Jesus is asking, “Why are you fearful? Do you still have no faith?” 

When was the last time you slept like a baby in your ABBA’s arms, trusting Him to care for your needs because He simply loves you?

Need more rest? Ask the Lord to show you what you’re fearing and where you’re lacking faith. I believe when we KNOW ABBA is faithful, we will truly rest no matter what storm is brewing. Amen!
